I am a little bit behind on updating this but as you'll see, we've been super busy lately. Duncan vaca scheduled for July 17th and it could not get here soon enough. We've had a blast but the fast pace is starting to wear me out.
Let me rewind to the start of May to catch you up on all we've been up too. First of all, I put my notice in with Ingram after working there for 4 1/2 years, to take on a new adventure at Traveler's Insurance.
Ingram was a great adventure for me and really fed into my passion for books. However, like all great things, I felt like it was time for it to come to an end. I made great friends there and changing careers was probably one of the most difficult decision I've ever made. But it seems to have been a good decision thus far. Travelers has been a refreshing changing of pace for me and while it is extremely fast paced, I haven't drowned just yet and so I must be doing something right.
Tim's birthday followed on the heels of that large leap and we had a blast. I surprised him with lunch at Golden Eagle (one of his favorite places) and we drove out after to the backwoods sticks of Tennessee to do ZIPLINING! Tim was completely shocked that I would even agree to it because of my paralyzing fear of heights but I know it's always been something he's wanted to do. On his bucket list so to speak. I found a company called Adventure works that offers ziplining tours as well as team building exercises. It was really awesome. Not something I think I would do again willingly, at least during the day. But definitely a once in a life time experience.
You're probably wondering why we are yelling "Zappos" at the end of each run. It was our "Safe word" so to speak. We had to help something like "Clear" for our guide at the other end to know we made it across and...well...didn't DIE. So in the typical Duncan style, we didn't want something as typical and boring as "Clear". So we chose "Zappos!" Not sure why, just the first word that popped in my head. Maybe my subconscious was secretly yearning to be shopping instead of attaching myself to a zip line and flying over reveens. Who wouldn't?? The only real way I would ever do it again (souly based on my one fears. The people there were AWESOME) would be if we did what is called the "Firefly tour". This is a night time zipline tour where you do it in the dark. The guides have caving head lamps and the zipliners have glow sticks. That one I would be pumped to do. But we'll see. One more interesting fact is that apparently most of the valley you see in the videos was under water during the Nashville flood. That is a whole nother topic but kind of gives you a gauge on the extent of that natural disaster.
Finally, to wrap up May before I start on a whole separate blog on June and July, the day after the ziplining extravaganza, I got to go see STEVE MARTIN in Concert!! It was FANTASTIC. For those of you who don't know, Steve Martin does blue grass now and came to a new music venue called "The woods at Fontanel" It is a beautiful outdoor venue that hosted the perfect setting to showcase some awesome picking. I went with Mom, My BFF Stacy and Mom's BF David. Stacy texted the whole time but I know her country girl inside enjoyed it..at least i hope. haha. If not, I did enough for the both of us.
So there you have it. I know I left somethings out but I have literally been so busy lately that this blog has been worked on for the past two months. I promise I will be better at keeping more up to day. We are busy people! ha. Here is a sneak peak of one of our upcoming blogs... ;o) See you then!!
